Pomurje is situated at the heart of Europe - the vicinity of neighbouring capital cities has always been giving rapid rise to economic development of the area. The region is an important centre of transportation and logistic activities and therefore one of the most marketable and attractive regions in this part of Europe.
Road network
The Pomurje region is internally and externally connected in traffic, with a thick network of local, regional and international roads. The important international motorway connection is a constituent part of the European road corridor Barcelona-Kiev.
Railroad network
With the construction of a modern railroad, Pomurje has become an important international railway connection to Ljubljana, Port Koper and Hungary. The railway is built to meet modern technical and ecological standards for the train speed of 160 km/h. For the future construction is planned a two-rail electrified railway.
Air network
Not even an hour drive in a car takes us from Pomurje to the airports in Graz (Austria) and Maribor, and it takes a little more than two hours to reach those in Zagreb (Croatia) and Ljubljana.
Telecommunication network
Intercity telecommunication network is here fully established by the installation of fibre optic cables. The digital transmission system, with an inter-connected net of digital telephone switches with analogue (PSTN) and digital connection points (ISDN BA) operate through these cables. Data transfer is processed over Flexible and ATM networks with digital carrier switches, with a speed 2Mbit/s up to 622 Mbit/s. Internet is regions widespread and widely used technology and a connection to broadband ADSL is accessible virtually everywhere.
